Glaube und Hofzeremoniell am Wiener Hof des 18. Jahrhunderts. Ein Blick auf den jährlichen Kirchenkalender und die damit einhergehenden Tafelfreuden der oberen Gesellschaft

Abstract

In the 18th century the Viennese Court consisted of a collection of formalized actions. Neither diplomatic services nor private much less public ceremonies were free of standardization. Constable Johann Josef Khevenhüller-Metsch (1706–1776) wrote a diary which gives an insight into this complex machinery of the baroque court ceremonial. Based on this diary the following seminar-paper discusses the importance of religious acts and the culinary delights that were inseparable from those in the Austrian monarchy.
