Heiße Kriege im Kalten Krieg. Die Rolle der Medien während des Vietnamkrieges.

Christoph Pöll

Hot wars in the Cold War. The role of the media during the Vietnam war.

The following proseminar-paper is about the role of the media landscape during the Vietnam War. Did the media landscape initiate the refusing attitude of the US-population because they wanted so, or is the relation between the reports from Vietnam in TV and newspapers on the one hand and the Antiwar-Protests on the other hand more difficult? Nonetheless has the situation of journalists since the Vietnam War changed and in current conflicts like Afghanistan they are neither allowed to move on the battlefield on their own nor to write what they want. This new type of journalism is called “embedded journalism” and it is definitely a reaction on the Vietnam War.
